How I avoid dry skin in the winter
In the fall and winter months our skin tends to get dry and we don't take care of it as much because it's not exposed. But neglecting your skin just because its not seen is awful for long-term and is going to lead to dull aged skin. I like to switch out my products from summer to winter to make it easy for me and always make sure I have what I need for the season and what will work best for me.
My body skin-care routine for the winter!
Dry Brushing - Before I shower I dry brush my whole body. I use a natural bristled brush and move in circular motions upwards towards my heart in long strokes. This is a detox for your body and does so many amazing things. It prevents cellulite, helps improve circulation & helps with the lymphatic system. Doing this every day on dry skin will remove dead skin cells and reveal glowing healthy skin.
Exfoliating - In the shower I like to use a sugar or coffee scrub about 3x a week to help clear out my pores and help me get a closer shave. I also shave almost everyday which also acts as a gentle exfloiator. Using a scrub 1-3 times a week depending on your skin type can dramatically improve your skins look, texture and feel. Dead skin cells build up and can even cause flaking if not removed properly. Another way to exfoliate that saves some time is buying a exfoliating glove and washing your body with it as it acts as a 2-in-1, luffas also exfoliate but not as much as a glove would.
In-Shower Lotion / Body Oils - I hate putting lotion on my whole body after every shower because it takes up so much time. I love to use in-shower lotions or body oils because they are super quick to apply and don't leave a sticky feeling and really work!
Spray on lotions - For extra moister mainly on my legs, I love to use Vaseline spray moisturizer in cocoa radiant because it's super quick and easy and smells so good! All you do is spray it on your skin and rub it in and go. It takes half the time a normal lotion would and leaves your skin glowing and super smooth.
And lastly, always drinking water. I personally don't mind drinking water & love lemon water. I try to drink my weight in water everyday so I stay hydrated from the inside, out!
It may seem like this is a lot to do but it really doesn't take that long and once you feel how soft and smooth your skin is and how good it looks you won't want to stop! I never let my skin care go in the winter because that's when it needs it most, its dry and tight and when we don't help it it dries up and leads to wrinkles in the future. You always want to make sure you're using SPF whenever you need it. It should be worn everyday no matter how much time you spend outside because you're still exposed to sun in the car and through windows. A lot of people think SPF is only for summer time and that is not true its important to where whenever the sun is shining!
For an extra glow - I love to use body oils with shimmer in them when i'm just exposing a little skin like my legs, shoulders or décolletage. My favorites are Nars Monoi Body Glow I $59 Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil $100 or the Warm Vanilla Sugar Diamond Shimmer Mist $16. These give you the perfect glow that looks great in pictures and will make you stand out!
